Role and Responsibilities

I was responsible for:

CHALLENGE Accepted

As part of the curriculum at the Apple Developer Academy, I was challenged to create and publish a fully functioning app. This process required me to take a concept from ideation through to production, focusing heavily on user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design. The challenge was to create an app that was not only technically sound but also engaging, user-friendly, and polished to meet Apple’s high standards.

  • Conceptualizing the app's purpose and target audience

  • Conducting user research and creating user personas

  • Designing the UX flow, wireframes, and high-fidelity mockups

  • Collaborating with developers to ensure proper implementation

  • Conducting usability testing and gathering feedback for improvements

  • Refining the design based on user insights

  • Assisting with the submission and publishing process on the App Store

Challenges Faced

Meeting User Needs

The initial challenge was to identify a problem worth solving and understand the needs of potential users. I conducted user research through interviews and surveys to validate the concept and guide the design process.

Creating Intuitive Interfaces

The next challenge was designing an interface that was intuitive and engaging. I focused on minimizing user effort, ensuring accessibility, and maintaining a clean, aesthetic design.

Collaboration with Developers

Effective communication between designers and developers was key. I had to ensure that design specifications were clear and that the final product matched the intended design.

App Store Compliance

Apple has strict guidelines for app submissions. I had to ensure our app complied with these guidelines, addressing issues such as privacy, security, and functionality.

Iterative Improvements

After the initial design and development,I conducted usability testing and collected feedback from users and stakeholders. This process highlighted areas for improvement, requiring several iterations to enhance the app's UX/UI.

The Research Process

01. Interviews

Held one-on-one interviews with poetry enthusiasts and casual readers to delve deeper into their motivations, needs, and pain points related to engaging with poetry.

03. usability testing

Created prototypes of the poetry book app and conducted usability testing sessions to observe how users interacted with the interface, identified usability issues, and gathered feedback for improvement.

02. Focus Groups

Organized focus group discussions to facilitate open dialogue and exploration of shared experiences, expectations, and desires regarding poetry apps.

04. Analytics

Utilized analytics tools within the app to track user behavior, engagement patterns, and feature usage over time.

User Testing

Develop Testing Scenarios:

Created realistic scenarios and tasks that participants will perform during the testing sessions. These tasks should reflect common user actions and goals within the app.

Ensured that testing scenarios cover a range of features and functionalities, including navigation, content discovery, interaction with interactive elements, and journaling activities.

Gone fishin’s story

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch an immersive poetry app to showcase a poets art. But no matter how aesthetically pleasing a UI could be , does it mean it’s ACCESSIBLE ?

Analytics Shown

Despite initially not engaging in any marketing efforts for the 'Gone Fishin'' app, it has gained significant traction within a few weeks. The app's localization has played a crucial role in this success, allowing it to reach and resonate with a diverse audience. This organic growth highlights the app's appeal and potential for further expansion without heavy reliance on traditional marketing strategies.
